Our Mission
We are a leading company in ion exchange membrane development, and we believe this technology has the potential to create an impact equal to — or even greater than — that of 3D printing. Two decades ago, the REPRAP project open-sourced 3D printing technology, which helped spark countless industries, businesses, and opportunities. We see the future the same way: a race to innovate and compete, not a race to lock others out with patents.
By educating others and encouraging them to replicate and build on our process, we hope to demonstrate that this technology is real, practical, and not “too good to be true.” We strongly recommend reaching out and booking a meeting first to ensure your project starts in the right direction.
Our Patent Philosophy
🛡️ Why Patent?
Filing a patent secures an official filing date with the USPTO and protects the technology from bad actors and patent trolls who might otherwise try to lock it away — keeping it from the community it’s meant to benefit.
🌐 Why Open Source?
By allowing other companies to adopt, integrate, and build upon this technology, an entirely new industry can emerge around ion exchange membrane applications. Leading that industry through innovation and openness is central to our long-term success.
📄 Why Non-Provisional?
As an early-stage company, we chose a non-provisional filing to refine and strengthen the application while protecting the core technology from the start. We plan to submit an early release date so others can search our application.
Patent Status
✅ Utility – Nonprovisional Application
Application #: 19/531,984
Inventor: Robert Karas
Status: Non-provisional filing submitted. Early release date publication pending.
We will update this page when the application is publicly searchable via USPTO. A common question we hear is, “Why can’t we find your patent?” — as an early-stage company, we chose to begin with a non-provisional filing so we would have room to refine and strengthen the application.
