These terms apply to every XRF analysis order placed with Rowow LLC, including the single sample service and the six sample service. Please read them before shipping material.
Instrument and status of results
Testing is performed on a Rigaku NEX DE laboratory-grade desktop XRF spectrometer. Results are not a certified, accredited, or otherwise official analysis. The service exists to give individuals and companies direct, convenient access to laboratory-grade equipment that is not widely available.

Element range and requested priorities
The instrument analyzes elements from sodium (Na) through uranium (U). Method settings and reporting affect both accuracy and relevance, so the purchaser must supply an intended list or group of elements to prioritize.
What you receive
A PDF report emailed to the address on your order, listing detected elements and estimated composition where applicable. Results apply only to the submitted sample and to the specific area or spot tested. Make sure the email address on your order is valid and can receive attachments.
Reports are delivered digitally. If you need a printed copy mailed to you, the additional cost and postage must be provided by the buyer before the report ships. Contact info@rowow.net to arrange it.
Labeling and documentation required
Each sample must be clearly labeled with a sample ID and include a brief material description and the elements to prioritize. The shipment must also include hazardous material information where applicable, including any required declarations or SDS documentation.
Method limitations
XRF has inherent limitations and can produce inaccurate or misleading results depending on material type, geometry, surface condition, and testing conditions. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to understand XRF capabilities, constraints, and potential error sources.
Some elements are hard to distinguish because their spectral peaks overlap. Lead and iridium interfere with one another, so if lead is present in a sample, any reported iridium reading should be treated as unreliable and disregarded.
- Surface sensitivity. Coatings, plating, oxidation, dirt, oil, paint, tape residue, or surface treatments can dominate a reading.
- Matrix and inhomogeneity effects. Mixed, layered, or non-uniform materials vary significantly from place to place, and results reflect only the tested spot.
- Geometry and positioning. Irregular shapes, gaps, curvature, and inconsistent positioning all affect results.
- Light-element performance. The instrument covers Na to U, but accuracy for lighter elements is more sensitive to sample condition and setup than it is for heavier elements.
Sample preparation
Meaningful XRF results depend heavily on proper sample preparation, and the purchaser is solely responsible for determining and completing any necessary preparation. This service is limited to loading the submitted sample into the instrument and running the measurement. No additional preparation, processing, or laboratory work is included.
Retest policy
The purchaser is responsible for shipping sufficient material and for preparing the sample properly. If re-testing is requested or becomes necessary because of insufficient quantity, poor preparation, contamination, or sample condition, additional fees may apply. Reruns caused by sample-related issues are the purchaser’s responsibility.
Holding period and disposal
Samples are held for 7 days after testing is complete. If a return shipping label is not provided within that period, the sample may be disposed of and a disposal fee charged.
Turnaround
We aim for same-day or two-business-day turnaround in many cases, but turnaround time is not guaranteed. Service runs on a first-come, first-served basis depending on demand and availability. For current expectations, email info@rowow.net before shipping.
