V1 Cation Electrolysis Cell Slide In Membrane Fiberglass Thick

$100.00

Category:

Cation membrane compatibly with my other electrolysis cells (v1 series) to be able to slide in.

RESEARCH / TESTING USE ONLY — NOT CERTIFIED OR APPROVED FOR CONSUMER OR REGULATED APPLICATIONS

This listing is for (1) composite cation exchange membrane sheet, letter size (11 in x 8.5 in). The membrane is a thick, PVC-based composite with fiberglass reinforcement. Due to the fiberglass mix, it is mostly rigid and typically measures ~0.5–3 mm thick (variation expected). Up to two can be used in the V1 electrolysis cell

Cutting / handling

Edges should be cut carefully to prevent fraying. Use sharp, quality scissors/box cutter knife and handle the cut edge gently. Avoid tearing or aggressive bending.

Mounting / sealing options

Because the membrane is PVC-based, it can be mounted using methods and materials compatible with PVC, including:

  • Bonding to a PVC frame using compatible adhesives/bonding methods (recommended “safe default” for most builds)

  • Gasket + compression

  • Hot glue, silicone, and other sealants can work, but use caution: ensure compatibility with your electrolyte and any acids/solvents in your system, and avoid overheating/deforming the membrane.

Operating envelope (experimental)

  • Temperature: recommended below 60°C (PVC-based composite).

  • pH / pressure: not rated / unknown — this membrane is sold strictly for experimental research, and the Buyer is responsible for determining compatibility and safe operating limits for their specific chemistry and setup.

Conditioning / first use

The membrane may require initial conditioning (“polarization”) to reach stable performance:

  • Soak in your intended conductive solution prior to first use.

  • Allow current to run through the membrane; in some cases, a higher-than-normal operating voltage may be used briefly to help polarize/condition (user discretion and responsibility, reduce voltage over time or use a fixed amperage power supply).

  • Recommended current density: 50–200 mA/cm², depending on solution conductivity and cell design. Performance and optimal settings vary by electrolyte, geometry, temperature, and operating conditions.

Shipping / storage (IMPORTANT)

Membranes ship hydrated in a wet sealed bag. Keep sealed until ready to use. The membrane can be gently patted dry with a paper towel for handling and sealing, but:

DO NOT ALLOW THE MEMBRANE TO FULLY DRY. Full drying can permanently damage the membrane, causing shrinkage and cracking. Store sealed and hydrated when not in use. Avoid freezing.

Research disclaimer / liability notice

This membrane is provided as-is for research, development, educational, or industrial evaluation only. It is not certified, accredited, or approved for potable water, food contact, medical, life-safety, consumer, or regulatory-compliance applications. The Buyer is solely responsible for safe handling, installation, compatibility testing, operating parameters (including chemical exposure, temperature, pH, and pressure), and lawful use and disposal.
