V1 Electrolysis Cell Kit, Unassembled

The V1 cell as a flat pack: pre-cut PVC foam board body, two 1/4 in clear PVC face plates and two clear PVC pipe sections. You bond and seal it. Slide-in membranes, electrodes, power supply, pumps and fittings are not included.

Each is a V1 Slide-In Cation Membrane, added to the cart as its own line. The V1 takes up to two.

Flat-pack version of the V1 electrolysis cell. Every part arrives cut to shape and you supply the assembly time, the fasteners, and the sealing method. It is the lowest-cost way onto the V1 platform.

This suits researchers, educators, and builders who plan to modify the design anyway, since changing the geometry is far easier before the cell is bonded and bolted together than after.

  • Cell body blank in white 3/4″ (19mm) PVC foam board, cut as shown in the photos
  • Two clear PVC face plates, 1/4″ thick, cut for the anode and cathode sides
  • One 1/2″ clear PVC pipe, roughly 3″ to 6″ long
  • One 3/4″ clear PVC pipe, roughly 3″ to 6″ long

Note on the face plates: “clear” PVC carries a natural transparent blue tint. There is no truly colorless or optically clear PVC.

Not included

No fasteners, adhesives, gaskets, or sealants are supplied, so decide on your bonding method before you start. Also not included: slide-in membranes, electrodes, power supply, pumps, fittings and hoses, framing, stands, and any accessories specific to your setup.

Membranes are sold separately. The V1 takes up to two: V1 slide-in cation exchange membrane.

What is included in the unassembled kit?
The pre-cut PVC foam board parts of the V1 cell body, two 1/4 in clear PVC face plates, and one 1/2 in and one 3/4 in clear PVC pipe section. Slide-in membranes, electrodes, power supply, pumps, fittings, fasteners, gaskets and sealants are not included.
Do I need special tools to assemble this?
You need PVC primer and heavy duty PVC cement, poly gloves, clamps and ordinary hand tools; a drill may be needed for fittings. The numbered parts diagram is in the description, and the assembly video link ships with the kit. Plan on a full day of gluing plus a day or two before the water test.
Why would I choose unassembled over assembled?
It costs less, and changing the geometry is far easier before the cell is bonded together, which suits researchers, educators and builders who plan to modify the design.
Is this the same cell design as the V1 Assembled?
Yes. It is the same V1 design and materials as the assembled cell.
